Arsenal’s dismissed offensive midfielder has drawn criticism.
Rio Ferdinand, a former star of Manchester United, has taken aim at Arsenal for letting go of Crystal Palace’s Eze Eberechi, an offensive midfielder, when he was a young player.
At the age of thirteen, Eberechi was released from Arsenal, where he began his professional career.
Following brief stints at Fulham, Reading, and Millwall, the 25-year-old earned his first professional deal with Queens Park Rangers in 2020.
Before joining Crystal Palace in 2020, where he is already a fan favorite at Selhurst Park, Eberechi thrived in the Championship.
Last year, he also earned his first England cap.
Speaking alongside Martin Keown before Arsenal’s Premier League 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, Ferdinand told TNT Sport: “Wow, well played Arsenal! He [Eberechi] has had a unique journey; he has had disappointment in his academy life, been released from clubs but he has found a new pathway and got to this level and is an international player now.”
