LAS VEGAS: Isiah Pacheco, the running back for the Chiefs, gave his preference for quesadillas when asked if he preferred hard or soft tacos, then looked up.

“Hey Blues, what’s your destination?” Pacheco yelled.

Pacheco was speaking with the three painted members of the well-known tourist attraction, the Blue Man Group.

The 49ers and Chiefs’ Super Bowl media availability on Monday night had a decidedly Vegas vibe, ranging from the ridiculous to the odd. Along with NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson and Bruce Buffer, a group of dancers wearing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band gear also made an appearance. The Bear and the Big Yeti, respectively, are the wrestling monikers that Nick Bosa and Travis Kelce chose for themselves. Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked about cheeseburgers by a member of the German media.

There were inquiries from reporters of all ages and from all over the world on a wide variety of subjects. At the 50-yard line, every player and coach was friendly and supportive of the opposition. Along with being an event, it was like most things in Las Vegas, drawing thousands of spectators who paid to watch the theater and buy products and food.

Eleven Chiefs players and eleven more 49ers players stood at separate podiums for an hour at the ultramodern Allegiant Stadium while their teammates and coaches moved among hundreds of media. Quarterback Brock Purdy of the 49ers does a Spongebob impression. The standout quarterback for Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes, likened himself to Steph Curry. Somehow, Travis Kelce was jeered.

“She is writing her own history.” I informed her that I would need to fulfill my part of the agreement and bring some hardware home as well.

Due to his friendship with Swift, Kelce became the center of attention, drawing a throng of reporters to his podium half an hour before the availability even started.

However, the 49ers are not short on stars. They got here by surrounding Purdy, the final choice in the 2022 draft, with Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, Fred Warner, and Bosa as an incredible supporting cast.

Several well-known figures shared the stage for interviews when the 49ers took the field for their turn after the Chiefs’ half of the game was over.

Williams, an 11-time Pro Bowler who was playing in his first Super Bowl, remarked, “It still feels like a dream.”

Williams has never witnessed such a flurry of activity before Monday night. Bosa has been in the bright lights before. He was a rookie on the Super Bowl LIV team that fell short against Kansas City.

It’s fantastic, Bosa declared. “It’s difficult to surpass Miami, and I believe they might have done so.”

Even Bosa was vulnerable to some of the more ridiculous inquiries. When asked which celebrity he would most like to have on his squad, he stated that he would play kicker for Tame Impala, Kevin Parker.
