The fact that Charvarius Ward is “Getting the Shine he Deserves” makes Patrick Mahomes happy.
One of the things that makes this 49ers vs Chiefs Super Bowl showdown unique is familiarity.
A few players from each club participated in Super Bowl LIV, their most recent meeting in the major game. From their previous Super Bowl matchup, there have been a few changes. Charvarius Ward, a cornerback who played for the Chiefs four years ago, is one of those changes.
His current goal is to assist the 49ers in exacting revenge on the Chiefs. Now, Ward is a totally different player than he was in the past. For the first time in his career, he was named an All-Pro and made the Pro Bowl this season. Patrick Mahomes will encounter the finest version of Ward that he has ever faced. Mahomes is thrilled with Ward’s progress and is undoubtedly looking forward to the challenge.
“Charvarius is an excellent athlete. “I recall that upon joining the Kansas City Chiefs, we acquired him from the Cowboys’ practice squad, and his play immediately indicated that he would be the starting quarterback,” Mahomes recalled. “He’s a physically strong person who will challenge you, get in your face, and attempt to make a play anytime the chance arises. I’m glad for him. He’s performed admirably in San Francisco, and I’m happy that he’s now gaining the recognition he deserves.”
Nothing but praise and love from Mahomes for his former teammate Ward. It is something that Ward himself has been showing to Mahomes as well for the last week. But come Sunday, all that praise goes out the window as both will look to make the other’s day miserable.
