In case you missed it, Chris Jones, a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, faced criticism for visiting the Miami Dolphins’ locker room following their victory during Super Wild Card Weekend.

“For a few short moments On January 15, South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter Chris Perkins wrote, “On Saturday night, for a brief period of time, maybe three or four minutes, one small corner of the Miami Dolphins’ locker room had such a raucous buzz you’d have thought they’d just won their first playoff game in 23 years.”

Perkins continued by revealing that Jones and former Chiefs pass rusher Tamba Hali paid a visit to Justin Houston, an old teammate, and that despite the team’s setback, they were having a good time laughing. Evidently, this infuriated a number of Dolphins players, whom Perkins declined to mention by name.

When Jones spoke to the media on January 17, questions concerning his brief visit with the enemy were raised. “Listen, man—it wasn’t meant as a slight,” the KC sensation said.

“I am familiar with many Miami players,” Jones went on, revealing, “Raekwon Davis and I are from the same area.” Justin Houston and I were teammates. Melvin Ingram, we were teammates. The match was finished. I waited to shower and get dressed since it takes me about 45 minutes to leave the [Chiefs’] locker room. Respectfully to the Miami organization, I assumed that everyone had left.

He reiterated that the majority of the Dolphins players had already left save for his pals, saying that all he wanted to do was call off “his truce” with Houston.

Dolphin Responses Perkins referenced a few Dolphins players following Chris Jones’ locker room visit in his article, as was previously mentioned. This is what he stated he heard.

“I would have advised them to remove the [expletive],” a player on the offensive said to Perkins. “I would have been hot after that.”

“I’ve never seen anything like that,” said another.

Perkins stated that neither Houston nor Davis thought Jones and Hali were being rude.

“When it ends, it ends,” Houston informed the journalist. “You still express love.”

After covering the NFL for 15 years, the Sun Sentinel media member came to the conclusion that it was the “first time he had ever seen an opposing (and winning) player in the losing team’s locker room” and the “first time seeing laughter in a locker room after a playoff loss.”
