BRUTALLY : Cleveland Browns celebrate their NFL Honors Award.
Kevin Stefanski Applauds NFL Honors Browns Award Recipients
Despite their disappointing postseason performance, the Cleveland Browns had a significant influence this season.
After several important players suffered season-ending injuries in 2023, the Browns went on to start five different quarterbacks.
Cleveland overcame the setbacks to win 11 games and make it back to the postseason for just the third time since 1999.
At Thursday’s annual NFL Honors presentation, a number of Browns received recognition for their 2023 effortsNFL Comeback Player of the Year went to Joe Flacco, while Defensive Player of the Year went to Myles Garrett.
Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator, was selected as Assistant Coach of the Year, and head coach Kevin Stefanski was chosen as Coach of the Year (his second). In a tweet on Thursday, Stefanski thanked Garrett, Flacco, and Schwartz.
“Coach Schwartz… what he accomplished in the first year with this group of players and this defensive staff was really historic.”
Joe Flacco, straight from the couch into the starting lineup. I’m proud of Joe for everything he accomplished both on and off the field. It was truly amazing.”
It was expected by most that Garrett would win his first Defensive Player of the Year Award. Stefanski joked, “Myles Garrett, I’m running out of superlatives guys.” That appears to be the Defensive Player of the Year award. This is a truly well-deserved honor.
Stefanski expressed gratitude to Browns supporters and humility on his Coach of the Year award at the end of his post.
“I feel privileged. You are aware that I am not capable of doing this on my own. I am surrounded by amazing people at this building. Our staff, our players, and our coaches. I am incredibly fortunate and fortunate; I could not have accomplished this on my own.
