OFFICIAL NEWS: The Sixers final trade with Boston Celtic before deadline pass.
A Final Shot by Daryl Morey at New Celtic Springer, Jaden
When Jaden Springer was moved to the Boston Celtics before the trade deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers shocked a lot of people. The former first-round pick of the Sixers received some harsh words from the team’s president of basketball operations after the trade.
Via Sam DiGiovanni’s X account, Morey stated, “We had to look at, what are the odds Jaden Springer, who I think has a great future, helps our playoff rotation in the one, two, three-year horizon.” And what are our chances of benefiting from a second-round pick? In our opinion, the second-round selection was more beneficial to us. That’s just the way things are. It lets us potentially acquire a veteran by the deadline for the following year, and such.
Although Morey is optimistic about Springer’s future, he believes the Sixers would be better off trading for a second-round pick.
“We succeeded. It’s awful. I think Jaden is going to be pretty good. However, I believe his schedule is a little off. We concluded that his window of opportunity to assist a postseason club is beyond what the second-round pick can accomplish for us.
Springer’s role was increased by the Sixers in his third year of service. His minutes per game increased from 5.6 to 11.8 for him. Even though Springer demonstrated his defensive prowess, Morey feels that he wasn’t worth maintaining in Philadelphia.
What Made Brad Stevens Decide to Buy Jaden Springer?
Brad Stevens gave an explanation of the factors that went into the Celtics’ decision to sign Jaden Springer on February 9. According to the Sports Network YouTube Channel of CLNS Media Boston, Stevens said reporters, “We’ve tracked his development pretty closely over the years.” A few years ago, we liked him when he was selected. In that draft, he was the youngest player, and once more, he is still a puppy. He’s still only twenty-one.
Stevens went on to point out which of Springer’s performances made him and the Celtics want to trade for him.
According to Stevens, “I would say that the preseason game here had more of an impact than that.” “Already, we thought, ‘Whoah, that looks like strides.'” He was fantastic in the G League playoffs last year, and that’s another thing. Anyone who is as crazy as us watches every G League game. He’s done more nice deeds against us while residing in Maine. We’ve been following him for a while because we’ve seen him live multiple times up there.
Springer’s ankle impingement kept him out of the Celtics’ game against the Wizards. Sam Cassell approved the trade for Jaden Springer.
Following the Celtics’ acquisition of Jaden Springer, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe revealed via his X account that Sam Cassell was rather pleased with the arrangement.
“Source: Cs assistants with 76ers ties strongly endorsed Jaden Springer.” He was coached by Tyler Lashbrook, the player (development) coach, and Sam Cassell in Philadelphia.
When Springer was a Sixers assistant, Sam Cassell was his coach. There are other assistants who were connected to a Celtic when they were on separate teams. When Charles Lee was coaching Jrue Holiday for the Milwaukee Bucks, he had a lot of experience. It’s obvious that Cassell thinks Jaden Springer can fulfill his potential.
