Luke Getsy Discusses TE Mayer, Michael.
Luke Getsy, the new offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders, held his first press conference with the group on Friday. Getsy might discuss and offer his opinions on a variety of Raider players, as well as how he plans to assess the offense in the summer and other topics. Michael Mayer, a tight end, was among the athletes Getsy spoke about. Getsy is accustomed to dealing with youthful tight ends and incorporating them into his offensive scheme. Getsy got the opportunity to work with rookie tight end Cole Kmet during his two seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears.
Kemet concluded his fourth season with the Bears with 73 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games.
Getsy had a chance to share his thoughts on Mayer, noting that he is comparable to Kmet in the tight end position. “I believe his resemblance to Cole is what makes him so awesome. He can do a little bit of everything well, which makes him a cool combination at tight end. The goal of player evaluation is always to determine how versatile a player can be. Working with Michael is fascinating because, in my opinion, a player’s flexibility simply makes you as an offensive unit more dynamic.
