Jaylen Brown of Boston thinks the NBA “moves the bar” in terms of MVP selection.

During his press conference for the All-Star game, Brown probably made remarks about his teammate Jayson Tatum, who is now ranked sixth in the MVP standings this season, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. Nevertheless, Tatum is the greatest player on the NBA-winning Celtics.

Brown, who is excelling as a key scorer on the Celtics attack, is making his third appearance as an All-Star in his career. This season, he has also seen Tatum’s leadership and control up close and personal.

Brown’s remarks will probably be taken seriously by the NBA Players Association’s front office because he is a vice president of the organization. The absence of precise standards for MVP voting sparks debate among league fan bases. Unquestionably, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic ought to be the front-runners for the prize. Fans would still like to know the reasoning behind these choices.

Every year, there are discussions over the MVP voting procedure. It’s not perfect, but at least it makes fans discuss. It piques the league’s curiosity.

It is therefore unlikely that the league will offer clarification very soon. Fans can focus on watching Brown compete in Saturday’s Slam Dunk Contest, where he hopes to add another trophy to his resume, as little is likely to change in the upcoming months or years.
