Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are aware that the Celtics’ NBA title victory will only assuage skeptics.
INDIANAPOLIS: At All-Star Weekend, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were frequently reminded that they are the favorites to win Boston’s first championship in sixteen years and that they have the best record in the league.
They were also reminded that they have never won a championship together and that their two previous championship failures—losing in the Eastern Conference Finals in Game 7 and the Finals itself—may indicate that they lack the resilience necessary to take home the ultimate prize.
They therefore proceeded cautiously on Saturday during media day. Bragging about their six-game Eastern Conference lead and regular season successes is pointless if their main goal is to silence skeptics with 16 postseason victories.
Playing in his third All-Star Game, Brown is aware of the doubt, particularly after their comeback from a 3-0 deficit against the eighth-seeded Miami Heat in the previous season to force a Game 7.
However, he insists that this year is distinct. This gang has been hardened by their prior experiences, and he is confident that they will withstand the difficulty that lies ahead.”We’ve had a great deal of success,” he declared at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana. “We haven’t yet achieved the highest degree of success, but maybe this year.” However, it’s been fantastic; the learning process, participating in the victory, and creating a legacy and culture in Boston have all been enjoyable, even without Tatum as a co-partner.
Despite not yet being in the peak of their careers, the pair has experienced both motivating victories and disheartening losses. The other teams in the Eastern Conference are dealing with their own share of problems. The Celtics have only once dropped two straight games. They’ve performed admirably throughout the first part.
“In general, I believe that going through highs and lows, disappointments, and ups and downs has cultivated”The ability to concentrate for extended periods of time is a mindset. Reaching the ultimate concentration is, in my opinion, the problem in athletics. The club that loses will be the one whose concentration wavers the most when the playoffs roll around. I set challenges for my team, and you develop the stamina for it during the regular season. Furthermore, I believe we’ve been performing well this year. Since I’ve been here, this has been the best year we’ve had in terms of mental focus. I have a high sense of confidence in our squad going into the postseason.
This season has been different, according to Brown, because of the rise of Kristaps Porzingis, who had an All-Star-caliber first half.
According to Brown, “KP has been a perfect fit for us.” “I believe that he is playing some of his greatest basketball with some of our best players. We must maintain this wonderful harmony. He could even be able to elevate it, in my opinion. I’m encouraging him to be the best version of himself because of this. And he was capable of dominating every single evening. It’s just a matter of mindset, readiness, maintaining your health, and accepting that teams will attempt to physically interact with you.
“I’d be thrilled to win. Indeed. I assume I have some catching up to do, though, since it seems like our defeat in the Finals two years ago still influences people’s opinions of me. Everybody who is eligible to vote casts a ballot, albeit the standards vary. Everybody has a unique way of thinking. It is what it is, whether that is right or bad. You can’t instruct people on what to look for in a voting ballot. Its beauty lies in that.
Tatum and Brown are appreciative to be here, to represent the Celtics, and to show off their abilities, but they also understand that this is just the start of a journey that might define their careers over the following four months.
