Two days after the nine-year veteran agreed to a contract buyout with the Washington Wizards, guard Delon Wright was signed by the Miami Heat.
Wright’s agent, Greg Lawrence, stated that his client expected to join with the Heat when the buyout was completed.

In 33 games this season, Wright, 31, is averaging just 4.1 points and 13.8 minutes off the bench for Washington. He missed about six weeks due to a knee injury that occurred in November.

The 6-foot-5 Wright might increase Miami’s depth in the backcourt. Terry Rozier, a guard the team recently acquired, hurt his knee on Sunday. He is on a week-to-week basis, according the club.

Wright was in his second Wizards season. Over 50 games the previous season, he averaged 7.4 points.

Wright has averaged 7.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 494 games (84 starts) with seven different teams over the course of nine seasons. The Toronto Raptors selected him 20th overall in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft.
Dorell Wright, the older brother of Wright, was selected by the Heat in the first round (at selection No. 19 overall) in 2004 and played for the Miami team that won the NBA Finals in 2006.
