Mohamed Salah will travel to Liverpool after the Africa Cup of Nations to receive treatment for his muscular issue, the Egyptian Football Association has revealed.
The attacker continued to have the problem during Thursday’s first half of his country’s group-stage match against Ghana.
He is anticipated to miss Egypt’s next two games if they advance to the tournament’s knockout stages in the Ivory Coast, according to a later update.
Following Monday night’s Group B final between the Pharaohs and Cape Verde, Salah will return to Merseyside.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Egyptian FA said: “Mohamed Salah will return to England following tomorrow’s match against Cape Verde to finish his treatment, with the hope that he will join the national team in the AFCON semi-final if we qualify, after additional examinations were conducted on him during the last hours and after communication between the national team’s medical staff and his counterpart at Liverpool FC.”
Mohamed Salah, who was substituted during Egypt’s match against Ghana on Thursday, will be returning to Liverpool as part of his recuperation from a muscular injury. According to Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas, the injury is “more serious than first thought” and will keep Salah out of action for “21-28 days”.
