The Michigan football team won the national championship the previous season, but because of their scandal involving the stealing of signs, many of its rival fans attempt to deny them credit for it. News of the incident broke midway through the previous season, and the Wolverines are currently the subject of an inquiry for unlawful sign-stealing. On their way to winning the national championship, Michigan won eight straight games after teams learned about the incident and were advised to use caution while posting signage.

Four of them victories were against teams in the top ten, and five of them came against ranked opponents. One was against the football team from Ohio State, and some Buckeyes don’t think the Wolverines deserve all the credit for their accomplishments. Ohio State is one football team’s support base that finds it difficult to give Michigan credit for winning the national title. Even though the Buckeyes knew ahead of time about the sign-stealing controversy, they were nonetheless defeated by the Wolverines at the Big House. Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of Michigan, was also absent from the game. No issues if there is no coach. For the third consecutive year, the Wolverines defeated the second-ranked Buckeyes to make it to the Big Ten Championship game.

Though there are still some who believe there should be an asterisk on the signage, every team Michigan played during the second half of the season was aware of the issue and had the opportunity to replace their signs. Many Ohio State football supporters, along with their AD, are extremely disappointed with the way the rivalry has developed over the last three years despite not giving the Wolverines enough credit for winning the national championship. Ryan Day, the head coach of the Buckeyes, succeeded Urban Meyer and inherited a gold mine, but he has allowed the rivalry to fade away as he has only won For Ryan Day, the upcoming season is really important. The fact that Ohio State has now lost three straight games to Michigan has angered fans, and some of them have chastised Day.

Ohio State has one of the top transfer portal classes in the nation and is returning a ton of skill from their squad from the previous season.
